Exel opens dedicated distribution center for Geneva Pharmaceuticals

Exel, the global provider in supply chain management, has opened a dedicated distribution center for Geneva Pharmaceuticals, one of the country’s largest generic pharmaceutical development and manufacturing companies. The new operation improves customer service by enabling product from Geneva’s pharmaceutical distributor network to be delivered within 48 hours.

“Exel was an excellent partner in assisting us in the development and implementation of our distribution plan. They exhibited the supply chain expertise and customer focus we needed to bring about a very successful implementation,” said Lou Schmukler, vice president of operations, Geneva Pharmaceuticals.

Exel selected a temperature-controlled facility at its 10 million-square-foot campus in Mechanicsburg, Pa. During the four-week start-up, Exel brought the facility up to pharmaceutical grade standards, implemented a software solution, and trained associates. Exel now provides day-to-day warehouse, inventory and order management as well as freight management services.

“The combination of operational scope and industry focus uniquely positions Exel to deliver a solution that radically decreases delivery times across Geneva’s distribution network, while aggressively managing distribution costs,” said Paul Mooney, senior director of customer development, Exel. “We also share the commitment to customer service that has made Geneva a successful and trusted partner to its distributors. As Geneva continues to expand, Exel has the infrastructure to support Geneva’s additional business requirements.”
