The World Mail and Express Asia Pacific Conference will be taking place in the Philippines this week. With the theme “Championing e-Commerce: Creating new supply chains,” the event is being hosted at the the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila.
CEOs, top executives of postal administrations, courier and logistics companies from across the globe will be gathered together to look at the particular challenges in the postal industry, specifically the e-commerce boom and look at how operators large and small are utilizing technology.
PHLPost Postmaster General and CEO Ma. Josefina M. Dela Cruz commented: “Hosting the biggest conference of leaders and top executives in the global courier industry brings honor and prestige to the PHLPost as this serves as a testament that the international community indeed recognizes the capability of the corporation to provide a conducive atmosphere for the delegates to expand the network, establish deeper business to business relationships, and harness the potentials to capitalize on the booming e-commerce industry in the ASEAN market.”
Dela Cruz also said that the event will further reinforce the relevance of PHLPost in the value chain.
“PHLPost continues to play a vital role in the nation’s development despite the advent of modern technology, which has become the corporation’s reliable partner in improving its delivery efficiency contrary to what has been previously perceived that it was a threat to the post’s survival,” she added.
According to PHLPost, the conference will cover discussions on how postal administrators can continue to be growth oriented and innovative by shifting their focus from being purely national or regional to the global market and the opportunities this holds.
It will also impress on the role of the courier industry in the productivity and profitability of small and medium enterprises. With an overwhelming e-commerce focus of the mail and express sector in Asia Pacific, postal operators are now urged to use every means to champion the medium; and to focus on supply chain development, whether local, national, regional or global.
Likewise, cross border e-commerce is seeing exponential growth, requiring increasingly sophisticated and responsive supply chain management.
The conference will be accompanied by the exclusive supplier showcase where the latest products and service innovations in the mail and express sector will be demonstrated.
