Q-Post looking to trial parcel locker services
Faleh Al Naimi, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of Q-Post, told delegates at an e-commerce forum in Qatar that his company is looking to run a pilot programme next year for parcel locker services, according to local reports. In an article published by the Gulf Times yesterday (19 October), the Q-Post chairman was quoted as saying that the company will provide customers in Qatar with “secured and automated parcel lockers solutions”, and then adding: “We will offer customers with alternative and convenience delivery locations such as malls, shopping centres, residential areas, and educational campuses which will encourage the online shopping experience. A pilot programme will be launched in the first quarter of 2016.”
The Q-Post chairman was also quoted as saying: “Q-Post has initiated a pilot project of home delivery services in Al Wakrah using the national address system. Q-Post is currently exploring best delivery options for customers for future roll-out. There will be a new transportation fleet to support the expansion of the services.”
The Gulf Times also reported that the Minister of Information and Communications Technology Dr Hessa Sultan Al Jaber told the conference that changes to Qatar’s postal industry could open up opportunities for private operators to provide domestic postal services in the country.
