Report shows fall in popularity of State's postal service
The popularity of the State’s postal service has decreased significantly in the past five years, with 40 per cent of businesses and individuals sending less mail than in 1997 preferring to use telephone, the internet and e-mail instead.
The findings are contained in the latest quarterly market commentary from the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation (ODTR), Ms Etain Doyle. The report covers the period from April to June.
However, while the postal service is being used less by many customers, general satisfaction rates with An Post have climbed significantly in the past 12 months. Of the ‘heavy users’ of the postal service surveyed, 61 per cent said they were satisfied with the service compared with 49 per cent last year.
