Amazon expands restaurant delivery service to Los Angeles

Amazon has announced that Prime Now customers in Los Angeles can now order meal deliveries from local restaurants. Restaurants participating in the service include Umami Burger, Baby Blues BBQ, Wokcano, Hurry Curry of Tokyo, Feast from the East, John O’Groats Restaurant, and many more.

The meals are delivered in an hour or less and, in order promote the new service, Amazon is offering free delivery for a limited time on all restaurant orders in the Los Angeles area.

In a statement issued on Amazon’s website yesterday (10 November), Gus Lopez, general manager, Amazon Restaurants, said: “Los Angeles is known for great local restaurants with cuisines from around world.

“We’re excited to offer Amazon Prime customers in Los Angeles a fast and convenient way to enjoy some of the city’s best restaurants without having to stand in line or brave the traffic.”

The restaurant meal delivery service is currently being offered at “select” Los Angeles zip codes but Amazon said the coverage “will expand in the coming days”.

Amazon Prime customers in Los Angeles can, of course, also order food from local stores such as Sprouts Farmers Market, Bristol Farms, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Erewhon Organic Grocer and 99 Ranch Market..

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Amazon first launched its restaurant meal delivery service (which is offered through Prime Now) in Seattle at the start of September and then expanded to Portland soon after. Sources report that the company is looking to roll out the service to more US cities soon.
