A third of major retailers say Black Friday is “unprofitable and unsustainable”, claims new study

A third of major retailers believe that Black Friday is “unprofitable and unsustainable”, according to a new industry study. According to The Omni-channel Journey, which was published today (16 November) by LCP Consulting, “retailers with an established omni-channel capability are poised to capitalise on the huge sales potential presented by Black Friday” – but those who do not have the infrastructure and capabilities to deliver on their customer promise “run the risk of alienating customers and harming long-term sales”.

LCP said that it interviewed over 100 leading retailers in the UK and US, in addition to a number of senior retail executives from leading European retailers, when compiling information for the report.
