
UPS debuts auto-updates
United Parcel Service has introduced SonicAir, a proactive shipment update service for same-day shippers.
Customers can now receive updated shipment information, sent to a wireless devices, pager, phone, fax or e-mail address, without having to request it, or access the same information from UPS’s Web site.
The service offers shipment status, exceptions and proof of delivery based on the customer’s request
SonicAir also offers event management services, where dispatchers maintain contact with the shipment from pickup to delivery, adjusting the route if the shipment encounters any unforeseen delays, and then alerting customers. It also offers Web-based order and tracking.
