An Post set to start national roll-out of Delivery Boxes “soon”

Local sources report that An Post has been happy with the initial response to its new Delivery Boxes in the south east of the country, and the post operator is now preparing to offer them to customers nationwide soon. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, the Delivery Box service was introduced for homes and business deliveries across the counties Wexford, Kildare, Wicklow and Carlow on 22 September. Delivery Boxes became available in Cork at the end of October.

According to a report published in the Irish Examiner today (6 January),  An Post has so far supplied Delivery Boxes to more than 1,500 homes and businesses.

Regarding the wider roll-out, An Post public affairs manager Angus Laverty was quoted as saying: “We initially ordered 20,000 to be made and we’re happy with the response so far. They’re easily installed and seem to be particularly popular with families and individuals doing a lot of online shopping.”

The water-resistant, wall-mounted Delivery Boxes are big enough to hold both letters and parcels. Customers can also leave stamped mail or online shopping returns in the box for collection.

The Delivery Box is priced at €69.99, which includes the box, access keys, unique barcode security, installation template and activation card.
