Baltic Post reports growing demand for Lithuania’s parcel terminals

Baltic Post, the subsidiary company of Lithuania Post, has reported that the usage of the LP EXPRESS self-service parcel terminals increased by 55% in 2015. The company added that it had seen more take-up from both business customers and private clients.

Lithuania’s rapidly expanding e-commerce sector was the driver for this growth.

“Almost one third of Lithuanian residents were shopping online last year,” commented Juozas Buitkus, director of the company Baltic Post, who added that consumer want the delivery process to be as easy and convenient as the online buying experience.

Baltic Post added: “Over the last year, two thirds of all the items sent via terminals LP EXPRESS belonged to business clients, for the most part – online stores. The number of items sent via terminals LP EXPRESS by business clients increased almost twice – by 46%. However in 2015 the activity of private clients expanded the most. Last year, residents sent almost 80% more items via terminals LP EXPRESS than in 2014.”

There are currently 80 active LP EXPRESS self-service parcel terminals in 41 cities and towns in Lithuania. Last year, nine new self-service terminals were launched in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Mažeikiai and Alytus. The terminals can be used to send items not only within Lithuania but also to 22 European countries.
