Austrian Post reports on 2015 results and planned sale of trans-o-flex
Austrian Post has agreed to sell trans-o-flex, its German subsidiary which specialises in providing logistics solution for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and consumer electronics markets, to a strategic investor. A report on Reuters today (7 March) said that Austrian Post had agree to sell trans-o-flex to the Amberger family, which also runs the German logistics firm Loxxess AG, and Schoeller Holding – which previously had a stake in the company in the 1990s.
Meanwhile, Austrian Post also reported that its turnover for 2015 was €2,401.9m – up 1.6% from €2,363.5m in 2014. In terms of volume, traditional letters were down by about 4%, while direct mail and media post increased by 1%.
The mail business saw its sales increase from €1,487.7m to €1,501.7m. The parcel and logistics recorded a 2.9% increase, from €875m to €900.2m. In the Austrian market, Austrian Post saw an 8% increase in parcel volumes but the international logistics business offered a mixed picture. The performance in the German logistics market (with trans-o-flex) fell short of expectations.
The operating result (EBIT) before special items for 2015 was up 2.6% to €198m. When “special items” (which mainly relate to trans-o-flex) are taken into account, the adjust EBIT was €89m. Net profit was €142.2m, or €71.6m after special items.
