Amazon suing former employee over new job at Target

Amazon suing former employee over new job at Target

Amazon is suing a former supply chain executive who is joining Target, claiming he is in violation of a noncompetition agreement that he signed while working for the company. The internet giant is claiming that Arthur Valdez’s new role as Target’s executive vice president, chief supply chain and logistics officer, would breach the agreement, which required him to not engage in competition with Amazon for 18 months after leaving the company.

As previously reported, Valdez spent 16 years with Amazon. In his new role, he will be leading lead Target’s “supply chain transformation”, which will include planning, distribution and transportation.

A spokesperson for Target has responded to the Amazon lawsuit by saying: “We have taken significant precautions to ensure that any proprietary information remains confidential and we believe this suit is without merit.”
