Jersey Post extends Track & Trace capability
Jersey Post has announced that it has extended its Track & Trace capability. In a statement sent to Post&Parcel today (23 March), Jersey Post said that the decision to extend the Track & Trace capability across the whole Jersey Post network is part of its longer term business strategy to invest in services and drive new income streams as traditional mail volumes continue to fall.
“The investment will help meet the customer demand for better notification on delivery progress, smooth the customs clearance process for imported items, and drive greater first time deliveries,” said Jersey Post.
Customer service staff have an improved view of the progress of an item from receipt through to delivery. The flow of information to delivery teams is also improved and all operatives have been equipped with Honeywell CT50 hand-held devices, with 2D barcode scanning and remote management software SOTI. These integrate with back office functionality using bespoke SmartTask POD software commissioned from Skillweb.co.uk. The result is sleeker and more efficient delivery workflows, the supply of real-time tracking events to our business partners and an improved working experience for staff.
Andy Jehan, Operations Director of Jersey Post, commented: “The decision to employ these new hand held terminals is a significant step forward in our programme of investment and innovation to provide the best customer service, and to improve the working experience of our employees. We have upgraded both the customer’s view of the delivery progress of an item, from receipt through to delivery, and the experience of our delivery operatives during the preparation and execution of their duties.”
The investment is closely linked with the installation of new parcel sorter equipment that is able to process up to 4,000 items per hour.
