Milestone for UK Post Office modernisation programme
The Nyetimber Post Office in Bognor Regis recently became the 6,000th branch to undergo a transformation as part of the UK Post Office’s modernisation programme. The modernisation programme was launched in 2012.
In a statement issued today (5 April), Post Office said: “More branches are being modernised every week, while separately investment in 3,000 community branches – often the last shop in the village – is also being made available.”
The new-look Nyetimber branch will also have longer opening hours. The branch used to be open for 41 hours a week and following the investment will be open 66 hours – an extra 25 hours per week. Nyetimber has become one of more than 3,000 branches that are open on a Sunday.
The branch was opened this morning (April 5) by Post Office Chairman Tim Parker and Chief Executive Paula Vennells, along with Nyetimber Postmaster Than Thevarajah.
Parker said: “I am delighted we have reached the milestone of 6,000 modernised branches and it has been great to meet Than and to hear about his plans for his business and how he sees the modernisation as acting as a springboard for the future success of his business.”
