Wayfair deploys Descartes’ home delivery solution
Online home furnishings and décor specialist Wayfair is expanding its deployment of Descartes’ home delivery solution to automate delivery appointment scheduling, route planning, route execution and proof-of-delivery processes. Mary Kaufman, Senior Director, Transportation Systems, Wayfair, commented: “Descartes’ home delivery solution assists us in enhancing the customer’s experience from purchase through to final delivery while optimising the use of our delivery resources. Descartes’ system enables retailers to offer customers flexible and tighter time-window choices. It features dynamic appointment booking, advanced optimisation and integrated mobile technology.
According to Descartes, the system’s capabilities “address the entire delivery lifecycle from delivery appointment scheduling, delivery route planning and execution, real-time GPS-based mobile solutions for route management and proof-of-delivery, and automated pre- and post-delivery notification services”.
