EU Transport Committee to hold hearing on self-driving vehicles next week
The European Parliament’s Transport Committee will be holding a hearing on “road transport in the era of new technologies” on Tuesday (26 April). The hearing will begin with a presentation of a new study on self-driving cars by Roberta Frisoni of Steer Davies Gleave. The 110-page provisional study includes analysis of freight-carrying self-driving vehicles as well as cars.
Following the presentation, the hearing will split into two panels, one on self-driving cars and another on intelligent transport systems and pricing.
As previously reported, The EP’s legal affairs committee held a hearing yesterday (21 April) to consider the legal implications of the growing use of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in areas such as transport and manufacturing. Drones and self-driving cars both featured heavily in the debate.
