Snapdeal beats Amazon and Flipkart on delivery times in India, says PwC report

Snapdeal is providing faster average delivery times in India than its two big e-commerce rivals, Flipkart and Amazon, according to a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report. According to PwC, Snapdeal takes about five days to deliver in big cities, while Amazon and Flipkart take around six to seven days.

For smaller towns, Snapdeal offers delivery in six days, Amazon promises delivery in seven or eight days, and Flipkart in around eight or nine.

Anurag Mathur, Partner & Leader – Retail & Consumer with PwC, cited the report in a blog he posted on Friday (6 May) on ETretail.com.

Mathur also noted that fast and convenient deliveries are now an important “value addition” for e-commerce in India.

“The willingness to pay for faster delivery has also increased over the past few years,” noted Mathur.

“Amazon provides value-added delivery options such as same day delivery, next day delivery, pick up from a nearby location, delivery on a holiday, etc. Flipkart has started offering same day delivery and paid one-day delivery of products. Apart from same day and next day delivery of products, Snapdeal also has a 4-hour delivery offer for a select few cities and products.

“Delivery time acts as a key differentiator in the customer’s purchase decision and thus, is a critical growth enabler.”
