Jet.com piloting free delivery for fresh food orders

Online retailer Jet.com is piloting a free delivery service for online fresh food orders in selected US markets. According to an article posted on Recode on Tuesday (1o May), Jet.com is offering delivery in one to two days – and the service is free during the pilot phase for orders of more than $35.

Recode reported that a Jet.com spokesperson had said that the pilot test is being conducted in 875 Zip Codes, spread across New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

The pilot is seen as the latest move in Jet.com’s attempts to compete with giant online rival Amazon. This is a sector of the online market which Amazon does not – yet? – dominate.
