Wal-Mart cuts ShippingPass delivery time from 3 to 2 days

Wal-Mart is reducing the delivery time for its ShippingPass membership programme from three to two days. Wal-Mart has shortened the delivery time for its ShoppingPass free shipping programme from three to two days.

This means that it is now competing more directly with Amazon Prime – which also offers free two-day shipping.

The membership fee for Wal-Mart’s ShippingPass is $49 a year, whereas Amazon Prime costs $99. However, Prime does come with a lot of extra benefits, including streaming video and music and – in the delivery field – Prime Members can also take advantage of the Prime Now one and two-hour options.

Wal-Mart says that it can offer more affordable shipping because it has a “unique fulfillment network that includes new large fulfillment centers, stores, distribution centers and our transportation network”.

ShippingPass is still classed as a pilot programme, so it is not available to all customers across the US.
