UBER eyeing expansion into Uganda
UBER may be looking to expand its coverage in Africa to Uganda. Representatives from the company reportedly told delegates at a recent World Economic Forum in Kigali that Uganda will be first on its list of new markets, probably followed by Ghana and Tanzania.
It seems that there is some substance to the reports, as the UBER website’s Careers section currently includes postings for two staff jobs based in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala: an Operations & Logistics Manager (whose tasks will include “Operations & Launch”); and also an Operations Coordinator.
UBER is already up and running in five African countries: South Africa (Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth); Nigeria (in the cities of Abuja and Lagos); Egypt (Alexandria and Cairo); Kenya (Nairobi and Mombasa); and Morocco (Casablanca).
