I2 to pump $10M into India in 2003

i2 Technologies, a global provider of value chain management solutions plans on investing approximately $10 million in its operations in India in 2003. The companys development centre in India contributes 60 per cent of i2 Technologies global development activity and the company expects this to rise to a 70 per cent contribution in future. Speaking with eFE on the sidelines of a press briefing in Mumbai, i2 Technologies India country head for supplier relationship management (SRM) and transaction platform group (TPG) Sankalp Saxena said that the company has invested $25 million in its operations in India, till date. This has been deployed in the development centre, on equipment and on infrastructure. The company has also moved $10 million worth of hardware to the development centre in Bangalore thereby doubling the capacity of the centre. Says Mr Saxena,”Our development centre here is the biggest outside of the US. The activities in this centre focus not just on maintenance and old products but we are also working on next generation technologies, front end development, customer support and consulting.” He added that the solution centre is the latest initiative and is driven primarily from India. It offers development services and solutions upgrade. He said that the current employee strength of the company stands at 1200 and that they would be recruiting actively.
