Express giants united into commission
Last weekend, the International Express Commission formally announced its birth. There are 12 companies engaging in international express delivery in China joining the Commission.
Among those companies, there are international express giants such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, and TNT. These companies have set up joint ventures with SINOTRANS. Domestic express companies are also joining, such as China Air Express, China Railway Express Transportation, EAS Express, and COSCO Logistics. However, China Post EMS is not in the name list.
The director of the Commission, Liu Xuede, says that the goal of the Commission is to break the monopoly created by the former planning economy system and to curb unfair competition.
The latest statistics from the Customs indicate that from this January to September, there were 32.54 million international express mails. Among them, businesses not belonging to China Post take up 70.9% or 23.0778 million mails. Hence, China Post EMS only has a market share of less than 30%.
The founding of the Commission will unite all the companies doing international express business in China to fight against express companies that violate industrial rules and standards.
