Jersey Post finalises purchase of Fraser Freight
Jersey Post has today (22 August) confirmed that it has finalised the purchase of Fraser Freight, following a successful regulatory approval process. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Jersey Post announced its intention to buy Fraser Freight last month.
The postal operator said that the acquisition of Fraser Freight represented an opportunity to expand its current business operation “both within, as well as outside of the Channel Islands”.
Tim Brown, the Chief Executive at Jersey Post, commented: “2016 is one of the most financially challenging years yet for Jersey Post, and we must find secure, profitable opportunities that can help us to build on our existing core skills and business strengths in order to address this situation. The purchase of Fraser Freight will help to extend our market reach, not only engaging with new clientele about our existing services but also offering new services to our existing customer base.”
Fraser Freight will expand the postal operator’s range of European shipping lanes and Jersey Post’s Ship2me customers will also stand to benefit from a quicker delivery service to the Channel Islands when the UK shipping service moves to the Fraser Freight warehouse in September.
“This move will facilitate quicker, easier deliveries into the warehouse from UK retailers, as well as the introduction of daily shipping services to the Channel Islands,” said Jersey Post.
