Canada Post and CUPW reach tentative agreement
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has announced that it has reached agreements in principle with Canada Post for both the urban and rural bargaining units – which should bring an end to the prospect of industrial action. In a statement sent to Post&Parcel yesterday (30 August), the CUPW quoted its national president, Mike Palecek, as saying: “We can’t give details of the agreements at this time, but we’re pleased that our members don’t have to resort to taking job action.”
The tentative agreements must now be ratified by the 50,000 postal workers across the country before they become the new contracts.
