Nightline announces €3m expansion
Ireland-based logistic and delivery service Nightline has announced that it is investing €3m in a major business expansion. In a statement sent to Post&Parcel today (15 September), Nightline said that it is expanding to cater for the launch of new premium services for its customers including same day, evening and weekend deliveries.
Nightline attributed a large portion of this recent expansion to the continued growth of e-commerce, along with the recent introduction of the Eircode system to Ireland.
As a direct result of this investment, Nightline has opened three new depots: a 50,000 sq ft facility earmarked for the Group’s Nightline International division in Dublin’s Swords district; and two 30,000 sq ft sites in Omagh, County Tyrone, and Kilbarry, in County Waterford.
The initiative will see the Nightline Group’s nationwide depot network expand to 13 sites and take its total number of employees to more than 1,000.
Commenting on the expansion, Nightline founder and CEO, John Tuohy said: “As we near a quarter of a century in business we continue to enjoy consistent and sustained growth at Nightline.
“With the heavy demand for online shopping we are seeing a strong and steady need for parcel and delivery services and this expansion is in line with the desire to continually give our growing customer base a first class service.”
Tuohy said that the extra jobs will comprise new delivery driver posts, depot support staff and sortation shift staff.
Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, commented: “Irish businesses such as Nightline are important to not only the national economy but also local communities, delivering a valuable economic contribution across the country through increased employment and local expenditure.
“At the moment, Ireland has one of the fastest growing employment rates in Europe, and it is homegrown companies such as Nightline which are helping to sustain this.”
