FedEx changing dimensional weight divisor for US domestic shipments

FedEx changing dimensional weight divisor for US domestic shipments

The FedEx Express and FedEx Ground US domestic dimensional weight divisor will be changed from 166 to 139 next year. The new 139 divisor will come into effect on 2 January.

A package’s “dimensional weight” is calculated by multiplying its length, width, and height in inches and dividing the sum by the divisor. If the value for the divisor is reduced, you ended up with a higher value for the dimensional weight (which means higher costs for the shipper).

FedEx announced the change to the US domestic dimensional weight divisor last Tuesday (20 September), in a general statement about rate adjustments. The change brings the domestic divisor in line with the measure used for FedEx’s international shipments.
