P2P joins The Delivery Group

The international e-commerce logistics operator P2P has joined The Delivery Group. Existing private equity firm Next Wave Partners LLP has backed the deal, saying: “We are delighted that P2P has joined The Delivery Group, and believe that the combined entity will create a market leading e-commerce logistics proposition with a strong culture of customer service and an innovative approach across all three businesses.”

P2P, which employs around 150 staff, provides both tracked and untracked e-commerce distribution services from its locations at Basildon and Heathrow.

As a member of The Delivery Group, P2P will be joining Secured Mail and CMS. The group will now have an estimated turnover of £200m, operating from six locations with around 500 employees and handling in excess of 500m items per annum.

Secured Mail is a downstream access (DSA) mail and e-commerce operator, whilst CMS offers its clients a value-added one stop mailroom outsourcing solution with significant clients in the financial and media sectors. They currently work together on both DSA, International and London hand delivery to provide a range of UK services to their respective customers.

P2P’s Founder and CEO Ian Dowie said: “We chose to join The Delivery Group not only because we could see the exciting service opportunities that we can offer together, but because the cultural fit and focus on customer service was evident right from the first meeting. We look forward to working alongside Mark Bigley and Steve Stokes and their teams to create something special.”

Paul Carvell, Chairman of The Delivery Group commented: “P2P brings an even greater international perspective and expertise to The Delivery Group, with a range of services, including the pioneering and innovative worldwide tracked delivery solution designed specifically for the ecommerce sector, TRAKPAK, providing tremendous new options for our existing ecommerce customers. In keeping with The Delivery Group strategy, P2P will continue to provide the same great service under the same trading names and run by the same management team.”

Services offered include international and domestic e-commerce and mail deliveries, direct marketing mail distribution, managed mail solutions and financial research and IPO document logistics.

P2P’s Ian Dowie (CEO) and Malcolm Barrell (COO), will both join The Delivery Group’s board of directors alongside Chairman Paul Carvell, Michael Owen as Chief Financial Officer, Secured Mail’s CEO Mark Bigley, CMS ‘s CEO Steve Stokes, as well as representatives from Next Wave Partners LLP.
