NuTonomy set to test self-driving cars in Boston

NuTonomy, the company which has been running a pilot programme in Singapore using self-driving taxis, is set to bring its autonomous vehicles to the streets of Boston, Massachusetts. The technology company – which as been working in Singapore with ride-hail specialist Grab – has been given permission to operate its vehicles in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park in South Boston.

NuTonomy’s CEO and co-founder Karl Iagnemma said: “These tests in the city of Boston will enable our engineers to adapt our autonomous vehicle software to the weather and traffic challenges of this unique driving environment.

“Testing our self-driving cars so near to nuTonomy’s home is the next step towards our ultimate goal: deployment of a safe, efficient, fully autonomous mobility-on-demand transportation service.”
