Royal Mail to release universal stamps

Royal Mail is launching two new airmail stamps on March 27, for items up to 40g – blue for European destinations and red for any other destination worldwide. These self-adhesive “Universal Stamps” will be available in books of four from Post Offices and other retailers, priced Pounds 2.12 (4 x 53p) for European and Pounds 4.48 (4 x Pounds 1.12) for worldwide. The design utilises the Machin head of the Queen on a white background, with airmail chevrons, reminiscent of a barber’s pole, running down the right-hand edge. A special first-day cover and presentation pack will also be available.
