French postage stamp price could rise to 0.50 euros

The French post office, La Poste, is to present its business plan for 2003 today. The government has still not decided whether to increase the price of stamps, however. If the price is increased from 0.46 euros to 0.50 euros, the group’s accounts will reach break-even point.

If the price is increased to 0.52 euros, moreover, the accounts will show a slight profit. If the price remains the same, La Poste’s results will include a loss of 350m euros.
