French banking group BNP Paribas chief attacks La Poste's banking plans

Michel Pebereau, chairman of the French banking group BNP Paribas, has urged the French authorities not to turn the French banking sector upside down by allowing the French post office (La Poste) to offer financial services.

Speaking on French radio, Mr Pebereau said that France already has a great many credit establishments. The idea that yet another banking competitor can be created cannot fail to be a cause for concern, he added.
