Deutsche Post DHL helping to integrate former soldiers into labour market

Deutsche Post DHL Group is working with the German armed forces to help integrate soldiers into the civilian labour market after they leave military service. DP DHL and the Federal Ministry of Defence signed an agreement on Friday (3 March) which will “open up long-term prospects for soldiers to engage in diverse work activities” at the postal and logistics group.

“Particularly in view of the fast-growing parcel market, we are always on the lookout for reliable, motivated and well-qualified staff. For this reason, I am delighted that we can now expand our successful and longstanding field-post partnership with the Bundeswehr to the advantage of both sides,” said Jürgen Gerdes, Management Board Member for Post – eCommerce – Parcel at Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Between 10,000 and 15,000 soldiers leave the Bundeswehr (the German aired forces) each year.

Deutsche Post DHL Group employs about 200,000 people in Germany. In 2015, the company announced that it would create up to 10,000 new jobs in the parcel-delivery sector by 2020.
