Israel’s Airobotics authorized to fly drones beyond line of sight
The Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI) has granted Airobotics the authorization to fly fully automated drones without a pilot – a move which Airobotics says will “allow for the most innovative Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) commercial drone operations”. In a statement posted on the company website this month, Ran Krauss, CEO & Co-Founder of Airobotics, said: “Here in Israel, we are always pushing the boundaries of innovation. We are proud to be at the forefront of the commercial UAV area, together with CAAI, and be able to lead the way for drone companies and regulators throughout the world.”

This newly granted certification is our next generation milestone, that completely takes the human drone pilot out of the equation in BVLOS operations. We predict this certification milestone will revolutionize the global market landscape, and pave the way for future applications of automated drones.”
Airobotics has focused on providing drones that can be used for inspection services, surveying and mapping, and security and emergency response – but its work on beyond line of sight operations will have significance for delivery drone operations too.
