90% see no change in postal services since Japan Post set up

Almost 90% of respondents see no significant change in quality of service since Japan Post, a new state-run corporation, took over mail delivery and postal savings April 1 from the government, according to a poll released Wednesday.

In the survey by Macromill Inc., a private Internet-based pollster, 86.0% of the 521 respondents reported finding no change in the quality of services.

In addition, 86.3% said that their image of the postal services corporation has not changed.

The poll, conducted April 10 and 11, found that 93.5% were aware of the April 1 inauguration of Japan Post. The poll covered both genders with males accounting for 50.5% of respondents.

During the 11-day period after the inauguration of Japan Post, 54.7% of the respondents used some type of service offered by the entity.

Meanwhile, 72.7% of the respondents said they are pleased with the entry of private companies into the wider scope of postal services-related fields, also on April 1.
