Royal Mail’s Mailsort will save UK business millions of pounds a year

This week (May 8th), Royal Mail will reduce the price tariffs for its Mailsort products, a move which will save the marketing community million of pounds a year.

Royal Mail will reduce supply chain costs, share savings with customers and simplify the products and pricing for Mailsort 120 & 700. Royal Mail is able to do this by lowering prices and encouraging customers to use Mailsort products that offer mechanised sorting.

The changes to the tariffs will mean price decreases for mailings for business customers using Mailsort business products. The changes to the tariffs will benefit mailers of all sizes as entry levels to the service have been dramatically reduced. By taking advantage of these new products, Royal Mail estimates it could save UK businesses up to £17 million a year.

Royal Mail will offer free guidance to business customers new to the service as well as those transferring from other Mailsort business products such as Mailsort 1400. This will help them to move to a mechanised Mailsort process and modify their mailroom processes. This will enable them to reduce the cost of their mailings and increase their mailing efficiency.

Rob Cameron, Royal Mail’s Head of Business Products comments: “Royal Mail recognises the value of its business customers from SME’s to blue-chip companies and this is reflected in the price discounts for Mailsort products for both volume and light users.

The launch of this new Mailsort initiative shows our continuing commitment to the business community. Mailsort already represents 35% of all mail volume which equates to 7 billion of the 20 billion mailed items a year. The business community will benefit from these cost reductions at a time when other tariffs are increasing”.
