GeoPost strengthens its management structure
GeoPost GmbH, the majority shareholder of DPD strengthens its management structure by the appointment of Mr Chris Ohlund as CEO Germany and of Mr. Claes Österberg as Managing Director for Nordics & Eastern Europe. (5/23/2003)
GeoPost GmbH, led by its Managing Director, Dr. Claude Béglé, has as its purpose to direct the business activities and development of GeoPost’s interests in the region, as a wholly owned subsidiary of GeoPost SA (Paris) and ultimately of the French La Poste Group.
It supervises line management in the various countries, as well as the DPD franchisor (DPD Gmbh & Co KG), in which it has a controlling majority of 84,85 %. Five entities will report to Dr Claude Béglé, Managing Director of GeoPost (Central Europe) GmbH :
Germany, led by Mr Chris Ohlund
Benelux, led by Mr Bernhard Reusch
Switzerland, led by Dr Jean-Noël Rey
Nordics & East Europe, led by M Claes Österberg
The International franchising organisation, DPD GmbH & Co KG , led by Messrs Arnold Schroven, Dr Armin Bohnhoff, Rainer Braun, Peter Burmeister and Wolfgang Lehmacher.
Mr Chris Ohlund, a German citizen, has been appointed as CEO GeoPost Germany. He will be in charge of the operational German entity and report to Dr.Claude Béglé. Chris Ohlund, who will be based in Aschaffenburg, will lead the activities of the Regional Managing Directors as well as the appropriate staff functions. He has held a number of international management positions with such reputable companies as FedEx, TNT and General Electric. Currently he is Vice President Scandinavia/Germany/UK of QXL Ricardo plc.
Mr Claes Österberg, will become the responsible managing director for a combined business unit, Nordics & Eastern Europe.
The GeoPost interests in Denmark, Norway, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will be under his authority.
Claes Österberg, a Swedish citizen, is currently working with GeoPost’s strategic alliance partner Posten (Swedish Post). He is the CEO of one of their affiliated companies, Baltic Logistics System International. He worked previously in prestigious companies such as Dupont de Nemours and Swedish Railways.
GeoPost (Central Europe) GmbH is looking forward to working with Chris Ohlund and Claes Österberg and has strong faith in the future. “We strongly believe that their engagement will further strengthen the development of the company. In addition to that, I will now be able to concentrate more on the further development of the international network and follow-up on crucial strategic issues”, underlines Dr Claude Béglé.
