La Poste will focus on land

French post office-owned airline Europe Airpost is planning to withdraw its three A300-B4 freighters over the next two to three years.
The move is in response to La Poste’s focus on shipping more mail, parcel and express traffic by high-speed train and road, a mid-term objective being a TGV postal service between Marseille and Paris.

The 45-tonne capacity aircraft currently operate nightly between Marseille, Toulouse and Lyon and Europe Airpost’s hub at Paris CDG.

Europe Airpost plans to operate all routes with a fleet of 14 B737-300s and four ATR 72s.

One of the A300s will be withdrawn from scheduled service by July to reduce nighttime flights at CDG.
