Concern over Irish Post Offices

East Antrim MP Roy Beggs has called on the Government to ensure that new provisions for pension payments will not lead to the demise of the village post office.

Addressing Post Office Minister Stephen Timms in the Commons, Mr Beggs referred to the decision to phase out pension books and replace them with direct payment options through bank or post office accounts.

Mr Timms told him that 3.5 million people did not have a bank account or a post office card account.
