Swaziland Postal Services introduces new digital networking systems
The Integrated Systems Digital Networking (ISDN) introduced by the Swaziland Post and Telecommunications (SPTC) will reduce government’s expenditure by using video conferencing when hosting the Smart Partnership Summit in August.
STPC for the first time, used the video conferencing facility during their workshop that focused on “Enhancing Your Business Efficiency Through Communication Partnership and Business Solutions” held at the Orion Hotel, Piggs Peak.
The company’s corporate communications manager, Lindiwe Dlamini, following a speech given through this facility by the Minister of Tourism and Communications, Dr Phetsile Dlamini, stated that it was indeed a major breakthrough. Dlamini said the belief was that video conferencing would only be available between the Manzini-Mbabane corridor. “Clearly that will not be the case as the minister addressed guests at the workshop from our boardroom at the headquarters in Mbabane. With the Smart Partnership Summit meeting coming up, video conferencing would cut government’s expenditure because there would be no need to transport a large group of people from one place to another,” Dlamini added.
“We would actually encourage government to use the facility for the Smart Partnership Dialogue,” she stated.
She explained that the ISDN facility has always been there but was not marketed at the rate, in which it is being marketed right now. Dlamini explained that the facility is suitable for business though it can also be applied at home. On the same note, Dr Phetsile Dlamini, in her statement, mentioned that the introduction of video conferencing would benefit Swaziland in numerous ways, making an example of how the facility could be used by the health sector.
She said specialists could be sought after to give training to locals through SPTC’s video conferencing…
