Teliasonera and IBM contract Swedish Post Office

TeliaSonera has signed an agreement with IBM to upgrade the Swedish Post Office’s (Posten) existing systems for telephony and data communications. The agreement is for a six-year period and is valued is calculated at approximately SEK 1.2 billion (Euro 130 million).

TeliaSonera will transfer Posten’s existing datacom and telephone systems into a cost-effective and modern operating environment that is largely based on public network services. TeliaSonera will act as a supplier to IBM which managing the IT and communications infrastructure for Posten. In addition to providing telephony and data communication services, TeliaSonera has also taken over complete responsibility for the operation of Posten’s telephone and datacom network. The agreement covers a period of six years, beginning September 1, 2003.
