ePLDT, DataPost, Spring Sign JV in Philippines
ePLDT, the information and communications technology company of telecommunications giant PLDT, recently signed a joint venture agreement with DataPost Pte., Ltd., and Spring to provide printing and enveloping services in the Philippines. The new Manila-based company will be called ePDS, Inc. It will provide laser printing and enveloping services for statements, bills and invoices, and other value-added services to companies in the Philippines. ‘We believe choosing to work with ePLDT to form a joint venture company to provide printing and enveloping services in the Philippines is a wise choice,’ said Woo Keng Leong, DataPost Pte., Ltd. director. He added, ePLDT has the IT know-how, DataPost has the operations know-how and Spring has the distribution know-how that can add value to the newly formed joint venture company.” Manila Bulletin: “‘With the combined synergies of ePLDT, DataPost and Spring, ePDS will be in a superior position to provide a total mailing solution,’ Teo Yew Hwa, Spring Asia Pacific CEO said. He said ‘ePDS is able to provide services right from managing customer data, to printing of direct mailers, and finally to the critical fulfillment process which leverages on Spring’s global expertise.’ Spring is an independent joint venture company set up by TPG, Royal Mail and Singapore Post and is the world’s largest independent international mail services provider. Together, the joint venture will take advantage of each company’s expertise to provide this service primarily to the PLDT Group.” Manila Bulletin: “ePLDT, founded in August 2002, is the information and communications technology subsidiary of PLDT. It offers a full range of ICT services focused on providing enabling infrastructure, content and multimedia applications to consumers and business worldwide. DataPost Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of SingPost, provides ePost, a hybrid mail service which integrates electronic data communications with traditional mail. Spring, on the other hand, is the brand name given to G3 Worldwide Mail NV, an independent joint venture company established in July 2001 by TPG, Royal Mail and Singapore Post.
