Fedex Express expands in Asia with new frequencies via HK

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, has been awarded 13 additional frequencies in and out of Hong Kong by the United States Department of Transportation, the company announced here Monday.

The 13 additional frequencies allow FedEx to enhance service in Asia Pacific and Europe, benefiting multiple customers in the markets, said David L. Cunningham, Jr., president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific Division.

“We strongly believe that the expansion of all cargo services in and out of Hong Kong will not only give the marketplace more air freight options in the short term, but the increased liberalization will ultimately serve to stimulate the territory’s overall economy,” he said.

“These additional frequencies will provide the basis for enhancing our services to customers across Asia Pacific,” Cunningham said.

These additional air rights through Hong Kong will allow FedEx Express to better serve the marketplace in several fundamental ways, including a greater number of shipping options to more destinations, expanded access within Asia, direct service to Europe, and ultimately, greater connectivity to more than 200 countries, he elaborated.

With annual revenues of 22 billion US dollars, FedEx Corporation is the premier global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply chain management services. FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, is the US carrier with the greatest number of flights in and out of Hong Kong.
