Auctionworld.tv appoints UK Royal Mail in a new warehousing, fulfilment and returns contract
Royal Mail to provide warehousing, fulfilment and returns management for goods auctioned live on the television channel.
The new contract is expected to generate significant cost savings for auctionworld.tv by efficiently managing the distribution of auctionworld.tv’s products from Royal Mail’s logistics operation in Swindon. Auctionworld.tv has appointed Royal Mail because of its proven logistics capability and the success of delivery contracts with the business, including its use of the Special Delivery service.
Royal Mail’s warehousing and fulfilment services have been tailored specifically to meet the needs of auctionworld.tv, taking into account the diversity of products auctionworld.tv offers its customers through live, interactive auctions. Products regularly auctioned by the company range from household goods to high-end jewellery and collectibles worth thousands of pounds.
Under the terms of the new agreement, auctionworld.tv is also using Royal Mail’s reverse logistics service, based in Swindon. The service uses proprietary technology, from Royal Mail’s partner Return Logistics Ltd, to track and assess any returned goods and ultimately recoup investment for auctionworld.tv on those products.
“There are many benefits to using Royal Mail’s logistics expertise, both in terms of cost savings and improved distribution management,” said Lee Brewster, logistics manager at auctionworld.tv. “Not only do we have the peace of mind that our valuable goods are being dealt with by an experienced and trusted distributor, we can also house all our solutions under one roof.”
Richard Rogers, head of warehousing and distribution at Royal Mail, said: “We have a proven track record of storing, distributing and returning a wide variety of products for companies like Safeway and Christian Dior and are obviously delighted to include auctionworld.tv in our portfolio of customers. Auctionworld.tv has already established itself as a leader at a time when online and television auctions are proving increasingly popular and we look forward to providing the company with a logistics infrastructure to facilitate further growth.“
