TNT opens airport express facility in Indonesia

International forwarder TNT Express has opened an express depot at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Banten, as part of its efforts to improve the speed and efficiency of its service.

“Since we first opened our doors for business in 1979 in Indonesia, TNT has demonstrated a strong commitment to our customers and to developing the air express delivery and logistics industry in the country,” TNT Indonesia’s Colin Moran said in a press release on Thursday.

TNT Indonesia, which has more than 18 branch offices, nine agents and 400 staff nationwide, is a subsidiary of TNT Express.

The release stated that Indonesia’s economic potential had encouraged TNT to continue its commitment to the country.

Previously, TNT said its investment in the express depot reached about US$4 million.

The depot, which the firm said was the country’s largest airport depot express facility, comprises a 2,000-square-meter building with a 600-square-meter mezzanine area. The depot is equipped with closed-circuit television to enhance security.

It also has a 1,400-square-meter warehouse and bonded area, enabling the company to handle export/import packages more efficiently.

Ken McCall, the chief executive officer of TNT Asia, Middle East and Africa, said the new depot reflected TNT’s continued confidence in Indonesia.
