UK Royal Mail rolls out Net Address service

Royal Mail is bolstering its database of recent home-movers with the launch of a new online change-of-address service.

It enables customers to inform their banks, utility companies and other relevant businesses in one go.

The service, at www.royalmail.com/changeofaddress, allows home-movers to notify many UK companies by entering their details. Over 800 firms have signed up, including major utility providers, banks, supermarkets and gyms.

The launch follows Royal Mail’s acquisition of a 17 per cent stake in Moving Technologies – the UK’s leading supplier of address-change technology.

The company will capture the details of people using the site. Those who opt in will be added to its database, enabling Royal Mail to offer businesses a cost-effective and unique database of recent home-movers.

Royal Mail head of business development Richard Roche says: “By offering this service, we are also providing businesses with access to new potential customers.

“For consumers, by offering a one-stop-shop facility online, we can minimise the effort required at this busy time.”

Royal Mail has also launched its Christmas Readiness Guide, designed to help retailers across the country to prepare their online and catalogue offerings for the seasonal rush.
