German Deutsche Post will have to reveal its cost structure
The Supreme Administrative Court in Germany has ruled that Deutsche Post, the German postal service, must disclose its cost structure in future. According to the court’s decision, it must be possible to check fees for the company’s services which have been set by the regulatory authority in court. The German association for international express and courier services hopes that this decision will help to open up the market for postal services. It has also been established that it is an exception for Deutsche Post to collect letters in the evening and deliver them by midday the following day; private delivery companies consider this to be a victory, as they can obtain a licence only if they offer this kind of service.
