DHL Express UK & Ireland announce new board of directors

DHL Express, the world’s leading express and logistics company, today announced the appointment of its new board of directors, following the appointment of UK and Ireland managing director, John Hogan in July this year. DHL Express UK and Ireland is now firmly part of the DPWN European network, uniting the strengths of DHL, Danzas, Deutsche Post Euro Express and now Securicor Omega Holdings Ltd, under the new DHL brand.

The new board of directors consists of the following appointments:

Stephen Day has been appointed finance director of DHL Express UK & Ireland. Stephen has worked for DHL for twelve years in many senior roles, which include: finance director – DHL UK, managing director – DHL Ireland; chief financial officer – DHL Worldwide Express, and most recently as head of global financial controlling for the new DHL Group.

Bernard McCarthy, previously general manager of DHL Ireland has been appointed to the new position of director and general manager, DHL Express Ireland. Bernard has almost seventeen years previous DHL experience in a variety of Commercial and General Management roles.

Clare Edmondson has been appointed human resources (HR) director of DHL Express UK & Ireland. Clare’s experience in human resource management and development spans over twenty years. The latter five have been spent in the logistics sector, including twelve months as HR director of Securicor Omega Logistics Group, where her principal focus has been on managing change and facilitating business mergers. In her new role Clare will be responsible for the development of the DHL corporate approach to people management to enable DHL to build the new businesses in the UK and Ireland.

Simon Veale has been appointed sales & marketing director of DHL Express UK & Ireland. Simon spent twenty years in sales and marketing within the distribution industry, the latter thirteen in senior management positions at Securicor Omega Express, his most recent being sales and marketing director.

Tony Eccleston has been appointed information systems (IS) director of DHL Express UK & Ireland. With previous senior management experience at GlaxoSmithKline and Shell, Tony brings with him a wealth of expertise and a significant track record of delivering large-scale business IS change and integration. More recently, Tony was chief information officer for Securicor Omega Express. Tony’s principal role will be to lead the new IS function, aligning it more closely with the needs of DHL business and customers.

Steve Allen has been appointed freight and logistics director for DHL Express UK & Ireland. In this newly expanded role, Steve will have board responsibility for the former Danzas Eurocargo business, his existing Securicor Logistics Group businesses and in addition Securicor’s Connect business unit.

Greg Michael has been appointed as the integration director for DHL Express UK & Ireland. Greg has worked on a number of successful integration programmes in a variety of sectors, including insurance and software. His most recent position was commercial and IT director at Securicor Omega Express. Greg will be responsible for the planning and delivery of integration across the new DHL.

John Hogan, managing director, DHL Express UK & Ireland comments, “I am delighted to have been able to appoint such a strong and talented group, with a wealth of experience in our sectors. ”

John continues, “There are many exciting challenges ahead for us, not least establishing a fully integrated express and logistics offering to the market. Most importantly, we will be focusing on guaranteeing a smooth transition for our customers. Our primary concern is to ensure that they continue to receive the same quality of service they have come to expect from us, and that we build on this going forward.”
