TNT ready to up Thai services

TNT Thailand aims to expand its domestic network to apply same-day delivery services nationwide after achieving its five-year growth target two years ahead of schedule, said Winfried Kiesbueye, country general manager.

It currently offers same-day service for Greater Bangkok and next-day service upcountry. “Our services will be applied as the same-day service around the country by the middle of next year.”To facilitate that goal, TNT is in the process of establishing four more offices in Phuket, Nakhon Sawan, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani. It now has 11 offices and 14 agents countrywide.

Mr Kiesbueye said the company had achieved its five-year goal _ a threefold increase in business _ two years ahead of the original timeframe.

“We have grown over threefold in business size. Three years ago, we employed 300 staff to serve our businesses. By the end of this year, our workforce will reach 1,500 staff,” he said.

Local revenue figures were not given but he said TNT Worldwide’s annual revenue was 11 billion euro (about 506 billion baht).

“Our business in Asia is growing faster than in the rest of the world and Thailand is the Asian country where our business is growing very fast.”

He said TNT Thailand was the only courier firm in Thailand providing three integrated services _ domestic transport, international express and logistics.

As the result, he said it would not compete by lowering prices but rather by providing value-added services and supply-chain management services.

“In Thailand, inventory in businesses and manufacturing industries is too big. They can save huge amounts of money if they can manage those inventories
