Pilot programme

FedEx Express has a new development programme which it hopes to “produce the pilots of tomorrow”.

In a statement issued yesterday (2 April), FedEx said that the scheme – entitled Purple RunwayA FedEx Pathways Program – aims to “address the need to support the airline and its feeder operators with a pipeline of highly trained and qualified aviators”.

FedEx Express, along with its feeder operators at Mountain Air Cargo and Empire Airlines, will have a “collaborative outreach and engagement” programme to promote student interest in aviation careers at selected colleges and universities.

FedEx said that the programme will start with Delta State University and then roll out to “many other leading universities and aviation colleges around the country”.
