Uber could restart self-driving car tests in a few months

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has indicated that the company could resume its autonomous vehicle tests in the US within the next few months.

Khosrowshahi was speaking at the “Uber Elevate” summit, which has been taking place in California this week.

The summit has been offering an ambitious vision of “urban air mobility”, but the Uber boss was taking a very cautious and measured approach to the self-driving car tests. He said they could be brought back ““within the next few months, I don’t know” – and emphasised that “it’s going to be in as safe of a way as possible.”

As previously reported, Uber brought its autonomous cars off the road following a fatal accident which took place in Tempe, Arizona in March.
