Deliveroo launching “Marketplace+”

Deliveroo launching “Marketplace+”

Restaurants which make deliveries with their own rider fleets will soon be able to join Deliveroo and make use of its rider network.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (12 June), Deliveroo said: “This new service is being rolled out globally this year, launching in Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong and the UK and Ireland in July.”

Deliveroo said that Marketplace+ will offer more choice for restaurants and consumers.

Restaurants can use both their own fleets and also have access to the Deliveroo network of riders (which the company says is currently 15,000 strong in the UK, 35,000 strong globally).

Consumers will have more meal choices, because Deliveroo estimates this move will “increase the number of restaurants on the platform by 50%”.

In its UK-focused statement, the company outlined how its growth plans: “By the end of the year Deliveroo will expand into 50 new towns and cities in the UK, many of which will offer this new service. Within a year Deliveroo will be able to reach almost 6 million new UK customers.”
